Zendesk connection
Learn how to connect your Zendesk account.
To execute workflows with Zendesk actions and to initiate workflows starting with a Zendesk event, you need to connect your Zendesk account with Actioner.
When designing your own workflows, you can use your Zendesk connection for Zendesk actions and triggers.
To see your Zendesk connections, go to your profile and navigate to My connections tab.
Connecting Zendesk
Actioner connects with Zendesk through OAuth2, API key and Basic Authentication options.
OAuth2 authentication with Zendesk
To authenticate in Zendesk with OAuth2
Click Connect near the Zendesk connection. You can find the connection on Description tab of your app.
Enter your Zendesk subdomain name on the opening screen. You'll be directed to authorize Actioner in a new tab.
You will be asked to sign in to your Zendesk account if you haven't already.
Click Authorize Actioner to grant permission to Actioner. You’ll be redirected to Actioner upon successful authorization.
API key authentication with Zendesk
To authenticate with Zendesk API via an API Token
Go to Zendesk Admin Center > Apps and integrations in the sidebar > select APIs > Zendesk API.
On Settings tab, and make sure Token Access is enabled.
Next, click Add API token to generate a new API key and copy it.
Click Connect near the Zendesk connection. You can find the connection on Description tab of your app.
Enter your Zendesk subdomain name on the opening screen.
Enter your Zendesk login in username field and the copied API key in API token field.
Basic Authentication with Zendesk
To connect with Zendesk API through Basic Authentication
Go to Zendesk Admin Center > Apps and integrations in the sidebar > select APIs > Zendesk API.
On Settings tab, and make sure Password Access is enabled.
Click Connect near the Zendesk connection. You can find the connection on Description tab of your app.
Enter your Zendesk subdomain name.
Enter your Zendesk login email and password.
Sharing scope
You can enable Shared option to execute Zendesk actions by the selected app's workflows. It's important to clarify that sharing your connection doesn't equate to sharing your credentials. Instead, it grants access to workflows to use your connection for execution. Rest assured, your credentials remain concealed and inaccessible to other users.
Additionally, enabling Shared option doesn't automatically start using your connection for every Zendesk interaction. Instead, your shared connection credentials are used only when explicitly chosen. However, note that that enabling Shared option makes your connection accessible to all app admins when designing workflows in your app.
Reconnecting
If your Zendesk subdomain or credentials change, you can reconnect Actioner with Zendesk.
Go to Profile settings page from left bottom corner, navigate to My connections tab and then click ... ellipsis and select Reconnect. Enter your credentials and complete authorization on the opening screen.
