PagerDuty connection

Learn how to connect with PagerDuty

Actioner connects with PagerDuty through OAuth2 and API key.

OAuth2 authentication with PagerDuty

To authenticate in PagerDuty with OAuth2

  1. Click Connect near the PagerDuty connection. You can find the connection on Description tab of your app.
  1. You will be directed to a new tab. Select your Service Region and login to your PagerDuty account.

  2. If you have multiple PagerDuty accounts, select the one that you want to connect to Actioner.

  3. Click Submit Consent to grant permission to Actioner app in PagerDuty. You’ll be redirected to Actioner upon successful authorization.

API key authentication with PagerDuty

To authenticate with PagerDuty API via an API Token

  1. In Pagerduty, navigate to the User icon, then My Profile page. Click User Settings.

  2. In the API Access, click Create API User Token, then click Create Key.

  3. Copy the API Key.

  4. In Actioner, click Connect near the PagerDuty connection. You can find the connection on Description tab of your app.

  1. Enter the copied API key in API key field.

Sharing scope

You can enable Shared option to execute PagerDuty actions by the selected app's workflows. It's important to clarify that sharing your connection doesn't equate to sharing your credentials. Instead, it grants access to workflows to use your connection for execution. Rest assured, your credentials remain concealed and inaccessible to other users.

Additionally, enabling Shared option doesn't automatically start using your connection for every PagerDuty interaction. Instead, your shared connection credentials are used only when explicitly chosen. However, note that that enabling Shared option makes your connection accessible to all app admins when designing workflows in your app.

Reconnecting

If your PagerDuty credentials change, you can reconnect Actioner with PagerDuty.

Go to Profile settings page from left bottom corner, navigate to My connections tab and then click ... ellipsis and select Reconnect. Enter your credentials and complete authorization on the opening screen.

Sharing scope

If you are an app admin, you can enable Shared credentials option if you want all users to run actions with the credentials you entered. When disabled, to execute requests and actions, each user completes authentication with their credentials.

Note

You need to Reconnect after enabling or disabling Shared credentials.
