  • Actioner sends an introductory message to the Slack channel selected for celebrations and a direct message to users in this channel. Your team can add their special days through the notifications sent by Actioner, enabling you to effortlessly collect birthdays and work anniversaries of your co-workers in Slack.
  • You can opt out of celebrations by keeping your birthday and work anniversary private.
  • The time to celebrate birthdays is entirely up-to-you. You can select your preferred celebration time during setup.
  • You can select when you want to remind your team of upcoming birthdays. Actioner sends reminders to your team about upcoming birthdays, a day and a week before and lets them prepare beforehand for the big day!
  • Actioner posts a congratulatory message on your celebration channel when it's someone's birthday or work anniversary and lets everyone join the celebration.
  • Actioner also kindly reminds you of your teammate’s birthday through a direct message and lets you write your message and decorate it with a GIF, or use Actioner's ready made templates! 🎂
  • You can add custom events and celebrate them when the special day comes!

How to get started​

Step 1. Install celebrations​

Visit celebrations in app directory and click Install button at top right corner.

Step 2. Connect to Slack​

After installing the app, you'll be prompted to connect your Slack workspace.

If you have not connected your Slack workspace, you can click Connect near Slack connection.

You can also add your Slack workspace by navigating to Workspace settings page from left menu and then switching to Slack workspace tab.

If you do not see Workspace settings page, contact with your workspace admin.

Step 3. Complete setup​

Setup celebrations

Run Set up a new team to set up a new team by selecting your team to receive birthday and anniversary celebration messages. Do not forget to invite Actioner app to the selected channel in Slack!

  • Select your channel and the time you want to celebrate your office birthdays.
  • Enable Send an introduction message to channel option for Actioner to post an introduction message to your selected channel.
  • Enable Send DM to users in this channel to enter their birthdays option if you want Actioner to send direct messages to the users in this channel. Through the DM, every user can enter their own birthdays, and anniversaries if Also celebrate work anniversaries in this channel option is enabled.
  • Enable Also celebrate work anniversaries in this channel option if you want to celebrate work anniversaires along with office birthdays.
  • Select the birthday reminders that you want your team to receive through DM. You can select from below options:
    • Remind birthdays a week before
    • Remind birthdays a day before
    • Remind birthdays on birthdays

Step 4. Invite your team​

By default Everyone in your Actioner workspace is added to your app as Runner.

To grant app admin permission to a user, go to the Permissions tab of your app and add users or groups via + Add permission button. If you can't find the users you want to add, ensure they have been invited to your Actioner workspace.
