How to get started
Step 1. Install bookmarks
Visit bookmarks in app directory and click Install button at top right corner.
Step 2. Connect to Slack
After installing the app, you'll be prompted to connect your Slack workspace.
If you have not connected your Slack workspace, you can click Connect near Slack connection.
You can also add your Slack workspace by navigating to Workspace settings page from left menu and then switching to Slack workspace tab.
If you do not see Workspace settings page, contact with your workspace admin.
Step 3. Complete setup
Run Get started to create a dedicated Slack channel for sharing URLs captured via Actioner's Chrome extension.
Step 4. Add Actioner extension to your Chrome
Visit Chrome Web Store to add Actioner's extension.
Step 5. Get the webhook URL from extension gateway
Install Extension gateway from Actioner app directory.
In Slack, call Actioner by typing
/actioner
and then select Show webhook url. Copy the URL that returns as a result of running this workflow.
Step 6. Complete your Actioner extension settings in Chrome
Go to Settings page of your Chrome extension and paste the Webhook URL you copied in previous step.
Enter your Slack login email.
Step 7. Invite your team
By default Everyone in your Actioner workspace is added to your app as Runner.
To grant app admin permission to a user, go to the Permissions tab of your app and add users or groups via + Add permission button. If you can't find the users you want to add, ensure they have been invited to your Actioner workspace.
Sharing a bookmark in Slack
On the page you want to add to your bookmarks, navigate to Actioner extension and then click Share.
The page title's and description are automatically populated. You can optionally update these fields and save your bookmark with adding your comment.
You can also enable Add to browser bookmarks on this screen.
Sharing a bookmark in a different channel
Go to Settings page of your Chrome extension and use + Add channel button to add your preferred channel.
The additional Slack channels will be listed when you share a bookmark using Actioner.
Updating the default channel
In Actioner, go to Configs tab of your bookmarks app and then navigate to slackConfig.
Update the channelId
parameter with your channel's ID.
Searching and listing your bookmarks in Slack
In Slack, call Actioner by typing /actioner
and then select List bookmarks.
- Optionally enter a keyword. The provided keyword is searched in title, description and comments of your saved bookmarks.
- If you want to list the bookmarks shared by a specific user(s), select them in From Users field.
Deleting a bookmark
After listing your bookmarks, you may remove any unnecessary or outdated bookmarks.
