Create incidents with emojis

Create incidents in PagerDuty quickly with Slack emoji reactions.

Actioner seamlessly integrates PagerDuty incidents and Slack conversations. You can create an incident just by adding 🔥 emoji to a Slack message.

How it works:

  1. You can report incidents in Slack by just adding a fire 🔥 emoji to a post in dedicated problem reporting channels.
  2. As you add a fire emoji, Actioner asks if you are looking to create an incident. You can create a PagerDuty incident by selecting an impacted service and optionally adding further details, such as assignee, description or confrenece bridge number or a Zoom link.
  3. As soon as an incident is created in PagerDuty, incident responders and incident assignees receive real-time Slack direct messages from Actioner, notifying them of the incident.
  4. Summary of the incident is posted to a broadcast incident channel. With any update on the incident such as with a status change, the message on the broadcast channel is updated. Anybody can internally track the incident starting from the time it is triggered until the time it is resolved.
  5. Most importantly, a dedicated incident war room is created by Actioner.
  6. Actioner invites all stakeholders to incident war room.
  7. Stakeholders can quickly catch up with the summary of the incident and immediately understand context.
  8. War room is real-time synced with the incident in PagerDuty incident. Stakeholders get notified of all incident updates through its lifecycle.
  9. Slack notifications sent to incident war room include smart action buttons that enable stakeholders to manage the incident without leaving Slack. You can add responders, or update the incident right in Slack
  10. If you are using Jira, you can create follow-up tasks.
  11. If you are using Statuspage, you can automatically create Statuspage incident when the PagerDuty incident is created. As the PagerDuty incident's status changes, the incident in Statuspage is updated accordingly. If you do not want to create Statuspage incidents automatically, but still want to announce specific incidents through Statuspage, Actioner's incident management solution also enables you to create and update Statuspage incidents through the smart reminders posted in incident war rooms.
  12. Actioner also sends smart reminders in the incident war room. These reminders remind you to create Statuspage incidents, follow-up tasks in Jira after the incident resolution and write post-mortems. During the incident lifecycle, stakeholders also get posts such as how to best handle incidents and how to write post-mortems.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use this app with a different incident management tool other than PagerDuty?

This app is particularly designed for PagerDuty but you can easily adapt it to work with any other incident management tool with public APIs. Add a new connection for your tool, and update the actions and workflows accordingly.

We don't use Jira or Statuspage in our incident management process. Can I still use this app?

Yes! The workflows and actions designed for issue tracking or external communication are independent of the other actions and workflows. Your app will work even if they're not a part of your incident management process.

Can I use another issue tracking tool other than Jira?

Yes. Follow-up tasks can be created with any other tools with public APIs. Add a new connection for your ticketing tool, and update the Create follow-up issue action accordingly.

Our incident management process includes more tools. Can I also use them via Actioner?

You can use as many tools as you want with Actioner as long as they have public APIs. You can create new connections, actions, and workflows that send data from your own tools and combine them with the existing Incident management app.
