Start Pomodoro with NLP

Start a Pomodoro with task details directly in the command.

What's it for?

Effortlessly initiate Pomodoro sessions with customizable settings directly within Slack. Actioner's NLP functionality understands your commands, allowing you to define task details, work duration, and break times – all in a single message.

How it works

Simply type a command like this in your Slack message:

  1. Type the following sentence in any slack message "@Pomodoro start brainstorm marketing ideas." This use case uses default work duration of 25 min, break duration 5 min and 1 cycle.
  2. Send  the following sentence in any slack message "@Pomodoro write a report for 45 minutes with 10 minute breaks with 4 intervals". This use case specifies preferred work, break duration, and cycles.

If any information is missing:

  1. Actioner will send a message with Start Pomodoro button.
  2. Clicking the button opens a pop-up window to fill in the missing details.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method that uses focused work intervals (pomodoros) of typically 25 minutes separated by short breaks.

What are the benefits of using Pomodoro with Actioner?

Actioner integrates the Pomodoro Technique directly into Slack, allowing you to easily launch focused work sessions, define tasks, and track progress – all without leaving your Slack workspace.

What kind of natural language commands can I use with Pomodoro?

Actioner understands commands that specify the task name, work duration, break duration, and number of cycles. You can also add optional descriptions and tags.

What happens if I miss information in my command?

No worries! Actioner will display a Start Pomodoro button in the message thread. Clicking it will open a pop-up window where you can fill in the missing details.

Can I change the default work and break durations?

Definitely, you can adjust them within the Pomodoro app settings in Actioner. You can type /pomodoro in any slack message, then select Update default settings, and type desired durations for your session.

How do I set the number of Pomodoro cycles for a session?

You can specify the number of cycles directly in your Slack command (e.g., "@Pomodoro I am going to write a report 45 minutes with 10 minute breaks with 3 cycles").

I downloaded the Pomodoro app but my Slack commands aren't working outside of the Pomodoro direct messages (DMs).

This likely means the Pomodoro app hasn't been invited to the specific channel you're trying to use it in. Here's how to invite the app:

  • Navigate to the desired Slack channel.
  • Click on the channel name to open the channel info panel.
  • Select "Add apps" from the menu.
  • Search for "Pomodoro" and select the Actioner Pomodoro app.
  • Click "Add" and follow any additional prompts to grant the app access to the channel.
  • Once you've invited the Pomodoro app, you should be able to use your natural language commands within that channel.
