Key features
Let's take a closer look at some of the key features that make our integration stand out:
Navigate between Slack conversation and Jira issue through attached links:
Whenever you create a new Jira issue, you’ll get notified in a Slack channel through a dedicated channel, e.g., #jira-issues. The notification message will include issue details such as Status, Type, or Priority. It will also have the issue key linked to Jira Software. Just by clicking the link, you can navigate to the issue in Jira quickly.
Vice versa, inside Jira, you can navigate to the Slack message that mentions the Jira issue using the web links. The web link is automatically generated by Actioner whenever there is a new issue.

Create a Jira issue in Slack:
Suppose you're working with a development team on a project. You notice a bug that needs fixing while chatting in a Slack channel. Instead of switching to Jira, you can simply run the ”Create a new issue” action using Actioner's Jira app directly in Slack.
Once you select the action, all you need to do is fill out the required fields in the pop-up form in Slack and leave the rest to Actioner.

Create issue with 🎫 emoji:
Using Actioner, you can also report a Jira issue by adding 🎫 emoji to your Slack message.
After adding emoji, you’ll be prompted to create a new issue. The person who added the emoji and message content is automatically filled in as the reporter and summary fields. You can select the issue type, assignee, priority, or any other issue field while creating the issue.
➡️ Check out Create Jira issues with Slack emojis use case to see it in action.
Besides, it is possible to use a different emoji instead of 🎫 emoji for your integration. All you have to do is navigate to the “Workflows” tab in your Jira app on Actioner, locate the workflow called "Create issue when 🎫 emoji is added," and modify the emoji field to the one you want.
Create Slack channel from critical Jira issue:
Generally, when there is a critical issue, such as a bug with a major impact on your customers, you need to solve it quickly. The first thing you need to do is to inform the assignee, watcher, etc. Then you need to bring them together and allow them to collaborate on the issue and keep you updated on the progress.
The new way is; when you label a Jira task “critical” or give it the highest priority, Actioner automatically creates a new Slack channel specifically for that issue.
The channel brings together the assignee, reporter, and watchers, allowing your team to collaborate seamlessly. Since the discussions and updates related to the issue are kept here, you can track and manage the entire process easily.

Sync Jira Issues with Slack conversations (Bi-directional updates between Slack and Jira):
You’ve learned that you can conveniently interact with Jira issues directly from Slack using smart action buttons in Actioner notifications.
Your team will also get updated on the actions taken in the Jira platform without leaving Slack. Actioner sends notifications to the relevant project channel whenever an issue is updated in Jira. So you won’t need to switch between Slack conversations and Jira issues during the team discussion.
Assign issues with 👀emoji:
By adding 👀 emoji to an issue message in Slack, you can automatically assign the issue to yourself.
Your team members can see unassigned issues at a glance and who is responsible for a specific issue by looking for the 👀 emoji in the Slack channel.
Search issues using JQL:
You can search Jira issues through custom JQLs in Slack using Actioner’s Jira app. Meaning you can construct complex queries, filter out irrelevant issues and locate the ones relevant to your project, as you would in Jira.
No more wasting time on searching issues; you can focus on the most significant issues that require your attention.
➡️ Take a look at List and search Jira issues in Slack use case for more information.
Search issues using filters:
Running the “Search issue using filters” action in Slack, you can search for issues in a specific Jira project using various filters, such as issue type, status, board, sprint, assignee, etc.
Using Actioner, you can locate the Jira issues you are looking for by narrowing down the results according to your filters.
➡️ Check out List and search Jira issues in Slack use case to see how it works.
List open issues:
Running the “My open issues” action, you can list issues assigned to you in the active sprint directly in Slack.
Actioner also allows you to take action on tasks that require your attention, such as changing their status or logging work, without leaving Slack.
Track issue updates in a thread:
We’ve talked about how Actioner notifies you about new Jira issues in Slack. It also allows you to track any issue update (e.g., issue progress, comments, and worklogs) through the relevant message thread. This way, you can track everything related to your issue through one place.
In addition to that, you can discuss the Jira issue progress with your team in the exact thread!
➡️ Take a look at Manage and track issues in Slack use case for detailed information.
Mention Jira issues in Slack:
You can get the current status of an issue by mentioning its key within a Slack message. This is an efficient method of getting a status update on a particular issue.
For example, if the issue key is "PROJ-1234", you can type "What is the status of PROJ-1234?" in a Slack message to trigger the expansion.
➡️ Please review Expand issue status by mentioning use case to learn more.
Connect multiple Jira projects with Slack channels:
You can dedicate a Slack channel for each project in Jira. Or you can connect multiple projects with the same Slack channel using Actioner. Thus, everyone on your team can quickly access and discuss issues related to specific projects without having to switch between different tools.
Notify issue assignee and watchers through DMs:
Actioner lets you track important updates of issues through direct messages in Slack.
If you’re both the assignee and a watcher of the issue, to avoid duplicate notifications, Actioner only sends one message about what is updated.
➡️ Check out New Jira issue notifications use case to learn more.

You can get up and run quickly! Connect Jira and Slack in just a few simple steps, then select your projects and Slack channels you want to get notified.

Customize as you wish (Like building lego blocks)
Alright, we hope you’ve liked the Jira app features. But we’re not done yet! You can extend the capabilities of Actioner’s Jira app in the following ways:
Customize action buttons:
Smart action buttons allow you to take the next best action when there is an update in your Jira. The following actions to run might differ from team to team. Using Actioner, you can customize them based on your team's specific needs.
You can choose from extra actions available within the app, such as “clone issue,” “watch issue,” “link issues,” or “update issue.”
By selecting the relevant actions and adding them to the action blocks in your notifications, you can improve the efficiency of your team's workflow.
Schedule reminders:
You can schedule reminders for open issues in the active sprint or stale issues. With Jobs, you can automatically send reminders to your team via team channels or direct messages about the list of issues that need attention. You can send reminders on a daily or weekly basis, depending on the urgency of the issue.
Configure into board-level:
If you're using Scrum for project management and organizing your projects on boards, you can easily adapt our Jira app from a project-level to a board-level. This allows you to keep track of your Scrum boards directly in Slack and quickly access all the issues associated with each board.
Integrate with other apps:
With Actioner, you can integrate all your work tools and automate tasks. Let’s say you manually create Jira issues for escalated Zendesk tickets. You can set up a flow that creates a new Jira issue whenever a ticket is tagged as "escalated" in Zendesk. This way, you can keep all of your tools in sync.
