One of the most useful features of the app is the ability to list and search Jira issues in Slack. This can help you stay organized, prioritize your tasks, and quickly identify any issues that require your attention.

Now, you’ll see how to use Actioner's Jira app for Slack to:

  1. List all your open issues in Jira
  2. Search for issues using filters
  3. Search for issues using JQL

💡Before you get started, you just need to install Actioner's Jira app from the App directory. Then connect to your Jira and Slack. After that, you're all set!

List all Your Open Issues in Jira

After installing the app and logging into your Jira account; you can use “My open issues” in Slack to list all your open issues in Jira.

  1. Type “/actioner” to call the Actioner bot.
  2. Select My open issues in the workflows list that appears.
  3. The app will list all your open issues in Jira. This list includes the project, issue key, summary, issue type, status, priority, and assignee.

  1. You can also take action on the listed issues using smart suggestions, such as assigning, commenting, changing status, and logging work.

Search for issues using filters

Using built-in filters, you can quickly locate the Jira issues most relevant to you and your team.

  1. Type “/actioner” to call the Actioner bot.
  2. Select Search by filters in the workflows list that appears.
  3. In the prompted form, you can choose filters to search. Some commonly used filters include those for the assignee, status, priority, and issue type.

  1. When you click the Search button, the list of issues you are searching for is displayed.

  1. Actioner's Jira app for Slack also supports smart suggestions on the search results. You can take actions like commenting on an issue or changing its status.

Search for issues using JQL

With JQL, you can search for issues in Jira using complex search queries. 

  1. Type “/actioner” to call the Actioner bot. 
  2. Select Search using JQL in the workflows list that appears.
  3. Type your JQL query into the prompted form. 

For example : 

Project = PLATFORM AND created >= -30d AND assignee = currentUser() order by created DESC

This JQL query searches for Jira issues in the "PLATFORM" project created within the last 30 days and assigned to the current user. The search results are sorted by the date the issues were created, with the most recent issues appearing first.

  1. After you click Search, the results of the JQL query will be listed.

  1. You can log work or comment on the issue by clicking on the three dots located in the top right corner of the listed issues.

💡Tip 1: Set reminders

With Actioner's scheduled job feature, you can set reminders at specific intervals for your open issues. You can easily configure a scheduled job to send reminders when issues are due, or when there are important updates to be made.

💡Tip 2: Customize the issue fields displayed in search results

You can tailor the issue details displayed in search results to meet your specific requirements. For instance, you can include information about the board or sprint associated with each issue, or show custom fields that are unique to your organization.

💡Tip 3: Add smart suggestions to your search results

In addition to the default smart suggestions , such as "Assign issue" or "Log work," Actioner allows you to add custom actions to the action list. For example, you can add "Watch issue" or "Clone issue" to the list based on your specific needs.
